Tyson Fury named the most powerful puncher in boxing

Having been knocked down in his fight against Francis Ngannou, reigning WBC heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury does not consider the Cameroonian to be the most powerful puncher he has faced.

“Absolutely, it’s Deontay Wilder,” MMAJunkie quoted “The Gypsy King” as saying. “Francis Ngannou is a big puncher, but none of his punches were a major problem for me. When he hit me, it wasn’t like dynamite and I wasn’t shaken. Just one punch to the back of the head and that was it. So Wilder is still the most powerful puncher I’ve ever been in the ring with. He’s many times more powerful than Ngannou.”

In 2018, Deontay Wilder knocked out Tyson Fury twice in their championship fight, but the Brit managed to come back and finish the fight in a draw, and in 2020 and 2021, “The Gypsy King” scored two early victories over the American, knocking him out in the seventh and eleventh rounds, respectively.

Last October, Tyson Fury defeated Francis Ngannou by split decision in a non-title bout, knocking him down in the third round.

At the moment, the British boxer is preparing for a unification match for the title of world heavyweight boxing champion against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usik, with whom he will meet on May 18 in Riyadh.
