Tyson Fury gave advice to Wolkanowski after his defeat to Makhachev

Reigning WBC world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury doesn’t think the extended downtime will be good for Aleksander Volkanovski, who suffered a knockout defeat in his title clash with Islam Makhachev last weekend.

“I’ve been in this situation for almost a year – I haven’t boxed since last year, since December 2022,” “The Gypsy King” told TheMacLife. “I wasn’t even sure I was still boxing, and then everything happened unexpectedly and here we are. So, I want to say to Alexander – keep going! He’s a very good professional athlete. Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win – come back and kick some ass!”

On Oct. 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, the Australian made a second unsuccessful attempt to take the UFC lightweight championship belt from the Russian, losing by TKO in the first round.

After that, Volkanovski, who holds the UFC featherweight title, announced that he was not going to give up his belt defense against Elijah Topuria, whose fight is scheduled to headline UFC 297 in Toronto on January 20. This idea was considered a bad idea by both fans and Islam Makhachev, who advised his former rival to take a few months off.

Recall that Tyson Fury this weekend will share the ring with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, and in December the Briton is scheduled for a unification fight with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usik.
