One of the best current coaches in Britain, Dominic Ingle, continued a series of verbal attacks against compatriot heavyweight Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs).
Ingle
thinksthat the two-time unified heavyweight champion cannot continue to be considered a superstar after two consecutive defeats to Ukrainian Alexander Usik: “Now he needs to start everything from scratch. Remember the moment when he was 100% confident in himself, when he was eager to learn new things, and not continue to put himself above everyone else. He considers himself a superstar. But if you got beat up, then what kind of superstar are you? He needs to rethink what happened, and not look for easier ways to quickly return to their previous positions. That’s not how it works.”
Ingle is clearly very angry that Joshua decided to refuse the services of top US coach Robert Garcia, although they had a very good rematch with Usyk: “Firing Robert and starting the search for a new coach is a very disrespectful act. But he is partly to blame for what happened. Do you know what Garcia should have done first? Get rid of, kick all the extra people out of Joshua’s camp. He literally surrounded himself with hangers-on and other rabble. You know, in boxing, you get “stabbed in the back” all the time. Therefore, it is very important not to lose the sense of reality and stand firmly on your feet.”
In fact, a huge number (perhaps even the majority) of fans and specialists believe exactly the same as Ingle: “This is not higher mathematics. Everything is simple here. AJ is a fighter. A fighter needs a great coach. He doesn’t need anyone else. If you keep some other people on the team, it’s just for the sake of flattering your ego. And the sooner Anthony understands this, the sooner he gets rid of all this riffraff, the sooner he will begin the process of improvement. Until then, this is a priori impossible.”
The other day, promoter Joshua announced plans for 2023 – three fights and a megafight with Wilder. Ingle claims that Anthony once turned to him for advice: “But what’s the point of asking and not listening?” But the legendary Holyfield thinks otherwise: “Joshua asked for advice on the eve of the fight with Klitschko”, in vain he complicates everything.
