Cuban coaching guru Ismael Salas is a former coach of the amateur teams of Cuba and Thailand, and with the latter he achieved incredible success both in amateurs and in professionals (two Olympic golds and six world champions in professionals).

Salas has over 20 world champions to his credit. He has worked or is working with such famous boxers as Yuriorkis Gamboa, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Kazuto Ioka, Kosei Tanaka, Jesse Vargas, Nonito Donaire, Jorge Linares, David Haye, Joe Joyce, Yordenis Ugas.

With the latter, he tried to inflict a debut defeat on the American welterweight leader Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) – a late defeat. Despite this result, Salas still believes that Spence will lose in the fight for the title of absolute division champion to compatriot Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs).

Arguments mentor: “Why Crawford? Because it is more technical, because it is more flexible, versatile. What I mean? The fact that he can change during the fight, react to the situation, make timely and correct corrections. I saw this in the fight between Crawford and Gamboa. Yuriorkis seemed to almost kick Terence’s ass, but he switched to a left-handed stance and everything changed immediately. It was the beginning of the end for Gamboa.”

Previously, it was rumored that Crawford and Spence would fight in Las Vegas (USA) in November. Alas, the boxers did not agree. Do you know what else advantage Crawford has over Spence? Davis argues.
