Former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is set to coach blogger Jack Paul, who plans to make his mixed martial arts debut under the PFL banner after a successful run in professional boxing.
“Let me know if you need a good MMA coach, Jake Paul. You can become one of my students. Champ,” El Kukui wrote on the social network, referring to the YouTuber.
The day before, the PFL officially announced the signing of a long-term contract with a 25-year-old American blogger who will perform in the celebrity division and receive 50% of the sale of paid broadcasts.
Last October, Jake Paul chalked up his sixth professional boxing win with a unanimous decision over former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The YouTuber also has early victories over former ONE and Bellator champion Ben Askren and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
38-year-old Tony Ferguson suffered his fifth straight defeat in September, losing by fourth-round guillotine choke to Nate Diaz, after which he left the top 15 of the UFC lightweight division for the first time in many years.
