Former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson, who suffered his seventh consecutive defeat this past weekend, gave a hard-hitting response to all those who think it’s time for him to end his professional fighting career.
“There is no success without a fight,” the 39-year-old American wrote on social media. “I’m not retiring, kazoos. Suck it ****. You’re just a bunch of eunuchs.”
On Dec. 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas, Tony Ferguson lost a three-round unanimous decision to British prospect Paddy Pimblett, after which UFC head honcho Dana White made it clear that he would no longer want to see “El Cucuy” in the octagon as a competitive fighter.
In June 2019, Tony Ferguson earned his twelfth consecutive victory with a technical knockout win over Donald Cerrone, who was kept out of the third round by a doctor due to a swollen eye.
The American fighter then went on to fight for the interim UFC lightweight championship belt and suffered an early defeat, losing by technical knockout in the fifth round to Justin Gaethje.
Over the next three years, Ferguson made several unsuccessful attempts to get his career back on track against Charles Oliveira, Benil Dariush, Michael Chandler, Nate Diaz and Bobby Green, with the latter three losing early.
A year ago, the American fighter was dropped from the UFC lightweight division rankings, which he had not left in seven years.
