Tom Aspinall reacted to Curtis Blades’ challenge to him

UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is ready to step up for his title defense against American Curtis Blades, who challenged him after he dismantled Brazilian Jailton Almeida at UFC 299 in Miami.

“I don’t need to be asked twice – I’m in!” the British fighter wrote on social media.

If the fight between Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blades takes place, it will be a rematch – in July 2022, the Brit suffered his only defeat in the UFC, losing to the American in the 15th second of the match due to a knee injury.

Returning a year later after a lengthy rehab, Aspinall finished Marcin Tybura by technical knockout in the first round, and at short notice in October he stepped in for an interim title fight against Sergey Pavlovic, knocking out the Russian in 69 seconds.

“Razor” also had two fights in that time, losing by technical knockout to Sergey Pavlovic in the fourth minute of the match, and knocking out Jailton Almeida in the second round.

Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blades are currently ranked No. 1 and No. 5 in the UFC heavyweight division rankings, respectively.
