Tom Aspinall has named a date for his desired return to the octagon

Rather than sit idle for the next eight months waiting for a fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall would like to compete at UFC 300, which is scheduled for next April.

“Me vs. Stipe makes a lot of sense and this fight is perfect for the UFC 300 tournament,” the Brit told Fight Disciples. “Our fight with Stipe will give more meaning to any event. He claims to be the greatest heavyweight of all time. Organizing our fight makes the most sense in the world and the winner will fight Jones”

Aspinall did not specify whether he is ready to fight Miocic for the interim belt, or whether he hopes the world’s strongest league will strip Jones of his current title and declare him the full division champion.

Recall that the British heavyweight won the interim title on November 11 at UFC 295 in New York, knocking out Russian Sergey Pavlovich as early as the 69th second. Two weeks before the event, Jon Jones tore a pectoral muscle and pulled out of his bout against Stipe Miocic. At the same time, UFC head, Dana White, clarified that Miocic was not offered to fight for the interim championship belt, as it would have been disrespectful to him.
