Tom Aspinall has challenged Stipe Miocic to a fight

UFC interim heavyweight titleholder Tom Aspinall has responded to former division champion Stipe Miocic, who has promised to share the octagon with him after taking the current belt from Jon Jones.

According to the Brit, if Miocic is not really going to retire after the fight with Jones, it makes sense to make the fight now, without waiting for the champion to recover.

“Why wait? I’ll be ready when you decide,” Aspinall wrote on social media, referring to the American.

A title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic was scheduled to headline UFC 295 in New York City on November 11, however, two weeks before the fight, the reigning champion was injured and dropped out of the event, and Tom Aspinall took the fight with Sergey Pavlovich on short notice, knocking out the Russian in 69 seconds and becoming the holder of the interim belt.

According to the UFC’s plan, Jon Jones will not be stripped of his title and will fight Stipe Miocic after he recovers, while Tom Aspinall will step in to defend the interim belt against one of the top fighters in the division.
