The third fight between Canelo Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) against Gennady Golovkin, which ended in victory for Canelo on points, was evidence that Alvarez had passed his peak and would never be the same again.

So says coach Jose Benavidez Sr., now even more confident that his son, unbeaten two-time super middleweight champion David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs), can easily deal with Canelo.

“With Canelo’s performance like that, I guarantee you that David will stop him in seven rounds,” said Benavidez Sr. – Today Alvarez won, there are no questions. To tell you the truth, Golovkin did an excellent job. Frankly, I thought that he would lose ahead of schedule in 6-7 rounds. But he went all the way and caught Canelo with several combinations, uppercuts and hooks. For his 40s, GGG was incredible.”

“We have already seen Alvarez Peak,” José says. – No disrespect, this guy has always been an example of discipline and worked really hard. It will be difficult for anyone to achieve what he has achieved. But everything ends sometime. I think this is his end. That’s the reason he doesn’t want to fight David Benavidez.”
