Chonburi, Thailand. In the main event of the show, two local legends of the minimum weight (up to 47.6 kg) converged. The reigning WBA Super champion Tammanun Nyomtrong (24-0, 9 KOs) beat the age-old ex-WBC champion Wanhaeng Menayothin (55-3, 19 KOs).
The fighters began with leisurely dances in the center of the ring: circling clockwise, competing in the art of throwing jabs. The champion was the first to turn on: he intercepted great, launched a multi-hit combination in response. Until the end of the round, he scored a good left hook to the body. The beginning of the fight was like a friendly sparring.
Nyomtrong still hit a lot of the body (good prep – end attacks with left hooks – hit almost everyone). Menayothin tried to counter, sometimes it worked.
In the 9th round, the veteran unexpectedly caught the champion with a right straight, shook him solidly, but then the gong sounded. Nyomtrong brought the matter to victory, but there is one point – the sympathy of the fans was clearly on the side of the contender. What will the judges say? 116-112, 119-109 and 117-111.
