The UFC tournament has lost its main event

The UFC on ESPN 54 tournament, which takes place March 30 in Atlantic City, has been left without a main event due to the cancellation of a welterweight bout between Sean Brady and Vicente Luque.

This was reported by informed sources close to the situation. Although the bout was officially announced by UFC chief, Dana White, Brady never signed a contract for the fight because he was injured.

It is not yet known if Luque will remain on the tournament card, or leave following his injured opponent. Currently, the second biggest event of the event is listed as a women’s flyweight bout between Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fioro.

Shawn Brady had his last fight last December, finishing Kelvin Gastelum with a third-round kimura. In doing so, the 31-year-old American put his career back on track after suffering his first professional defeat since October 2022, losing by second-round technical knockout to Belal Muhammad.

Vicente Luque, 32, was also set to return to the octagon after winning a unanimous decision over Rafael Dos Anjos. Prior to that, the 32-year-old Brazilian had suffered two straight defeats, losing by unanimous decision to Belal Muhammad and losing by knockout to Jeff Neal.
