The UFC is ready to organize a fight for Michael Chandler

If Michael Chandler gets tired of waiting for a fight with Conor McGregor, the UFC management is ready to schedule a fight with another opponent.

This was announced at a press conference in Las Vegas by the organization’s CEO, Dana White.

“I don’t have anything to say at this point,” the UFC executive said in response to a reporter’s pertinent question. “I’ve been saying for a long time that Conor will fight next year, but if Chandler gets tired of waiting and gets nervous, we’ll work something out for him.”

Michael Chandler last fought last November, losing by rear-naked choke in the third round to Dustin Puryear. Six months prior, the former Bellator champion knocked out Tony Ferguson in the second round, closing out losses to Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje.

The 37-year-old American fighter currently rounds out the top five of the organization’s lightweight division.

Conor McGregor, 35, hasn’t stepped into the octagon since July 2021, when he suffered a severe leg fracture in his third fight against Dustin Puryear.
