The UFC has announced when the Jones vs. Miocic fight will take place

The winner of the heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, scheduled for this summer, should step up for a unification bout against the division’s interim champion, Tom Aspinall, before retiring, according to the head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White.

“There’s a Jones vs. Miocic fight coming up this summer,” the UFC chief said in an interview with Max Crosby. “It’s interesting – a lot depends on who wins. But whoever wins, how can you go away and not fight Aspinall?”

“I think it’s at least not polite, if you like. If you’re looked at as one of the greatest fighters of all time, whoever wins this fight, it’s the right thing to do to give this guy a chance, to give him an opportunity to win. And if you beat him, you absolutely strengthen your legacy.”

This past weekend, current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones announced that he was going to fight Francis Ngannou after beating Stipe Miocic and Tom Aspinall.

Last November, Jon Jones was scheduled to go out for a title defense against Stipe Miocic, but tore a pectoral muscle and pulled out of the fight, while Tom Aspinall won the interim championship belt at UFC 295 by knocking out Sergey Pavlovic in the first round.
