The UFC gave two reasons for Conor McGregor’s absence

The uncertainty with Conor McGregor’s return to the octagon is due solely to personal problems of the Irish fighter, according to the head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White.

“First of all, he’s coming back from one of the worst injuries that you can only come back from,” the organization’s chief said in an interview with Kevin Aiola. “How long was Anderson Silva absent? How long was Chris Weidman out? Guys breaking that bone. That’s the number one issue at this point. Number two is that Conor McGregor doesn’t need the damn money. Khabib doesn’t need the money and he’s retired.”

“Only Conor has the answer to these questions. You should ask them to him, not me. I know he’s training, but I have no idea what level of training he’s at. I don’t know if he can punch at full power right now. To say anything concrete, I need to know that the guy is in full training camp and that he’s ready. McGregor has a movie coming out and he has a business that he’s built. It’s a completely different dynamic when you’re dealing with a guy who has that much money.”

A week ago, the head of the UFC revealed that Conor McGregor’s return was scheduled for this fall, however, the former UFC double champion denied this information, reiterating that he plans to return in the summer.

At the moment the most likely opponent of the Irishman is Michael Chandler, who starred with him in the last season of TUF, but there is no guarantee that it is the American who will share the octagon with McGregor.
