The rematch between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal has been made official

Five years after facing each other in the octagon, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will test each other’s mettle in the boxing ring.

The ten-round bout between the former UFC fighters will take place in the 79.4 kg (175 lbs.) weight class and will take place June 1 at the Kia Forum Arena in Los Angeles.

The fight will be broadcast by streaming platform Fanmio, which has priced the broadcast at $79.99 ($49.99 on pre-order through April 12).

“Nate is a dead man walking,” Masvidal said in an official press release. “I can’t wait to prove that there was no fluke last time. He was saved by the referee. Now we’re boxing and he claims that’s his strong point, but he has no chance of beating me. I won’t give him an inch in that ring so he can’t even take a breath. If he thought our MMA fight didn’t work out well for him, it’s going to be a lot worse this time.”

The first bout between the fighters, with the BMF title on the line, took place in November 2019 at UFC 244 in New York City and ended in an early defeat for Diaz, who was advised by the referee to stay out of the fourth round due to a severe dissection.

After that, Jorge Masvidal suffered four straight defeats, including two losses in title fights to Kamar Usman, and announced the end of his career, while Nate Diaz lost a unanimous decision to Leon Edwards in a challenger’s bout, finished Tony Ferguson by guillotine choke, and left the world’s strongest league as a free agent.

Last August, Diaz made an unsuccessful professional boxing debut, losing by unanimous decision to blogger Jake Paul at the end of ten rounds.
