The punching power of Peter Yan and Song Yadong was compared by a former rival

UFC lightweight division No. 3 Cory Sandhagen, who has shared the octagon with both Petr Yan and Song Yadong, revealed which of his former rivals has the harder punch.

“Yang sent me to knockdown somehow very tricky, and I think I didn’t fall down because of the power of the punch – it was a double punch, a backfist and a hook, one after the other,” the American told CBS Sports. “Honestly, Song hit me as hard as anybody. It was the most accurate, technical and tight left hook I’ve ever missed. So Song surpasses Yang in punching power.”

In October 2021, Corey Sandhagen made an unsuccessful attempt to win the interim UFC flyweight championship belt, losing by unanimous decision to Petr Yan after five rounds, and eleven months later the American put his career back on track with a fourth-round TKO over Song Yadong, who was not cleared by his doctor for the final round due to a severe dissection.

As a reminder, the fight between Peter Yan and Song Yadong will be part of the UFC 299 tournament, which will take place on March 9 in Miami.
