The Mighty Mouse named Aljamain Sterling’s main weakness

Former UFC champion and current ONE Championship flyweight titleholder, Demetrious Johnson, believes he could easily take down Aljamain Sterling, who is set to make his UFC flyweight title defense against Sean O’Malley this weekend.

“His weakness is that he doesn’t have a clinch game,” “Mighty Mouse” said on another edition of The MMA Hour program. “I’d eat him for breakfast in the clinch. I feel the rhythm, move on my feet better than he does. As far as grappling goes, he’s taller than me and I would never let him take my back. Everyone else he entangles his legs, closes a triangle on the body like he did to Peter Yan, and they have to survive”

“What’s more, I don’t have to shorten the distance with him – he’ll do it himself. He pokes with his jab, throws a leg kick that looks more like a kick, and comes over. Great – come here and I’ll show you a thing called a muay thai clinch. I feel like I’m going to eat him alive.”

As a reminder, the ONE Championship League’s lightest division features fighters up to 135 pounds (61 kg), which is the UFC’s lightest weight class.

A title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley will headline UFC 292 in Boston on August 19.
