The former UFC fighter won the championship belt the day after the death of his sister’s husband
Former UFC light heavyweight Khadis Ibragimov immediately after defeating Hussein Adamov announced a family tragedy. As it turned out, the day before, the husband of Ibragimov’s sister was killed with a knife in the stomach.
“First of all, thank you all,” Ibragimov said in the cage after the victory. — [В бою] there were many dangerous moments. Please give me two minutes of attention, I’ll say something. When I was still at school, I studied in the 10-11th grade, I had one relative, he competed in boxing, I look at him, he competed professionally, went to fight across the ocean. He was a motivator for me. He later married my sister. He is such a good person. After that, I started performing, and he was preparing me for this fight – it was in shock. Yesterday he was stabbed in the stomach with a knife… The husband of my own sister, who now has three children. I would like to dedicate this victory to him. I couldn’t give up, I was in a lot of pain. Now I have a big responsibility, because I have to feed not only my family, but my sister’s family with three children. I will train twice as hard, fight, I want to earn twice as much so that their children do not need anything. Thanks to all. I have no more words, and forgive me not to congratulate. Today for me this victory is not very important. Today, it was harder than ever for me to tune in to the fight. I didn’t sleep at all last night.”
Ibragimov defeated Adamov by unanimous decision and became the Hardcore MMA heavyweight champion.
“I’m just wondering, I want to ask people who do this, who go with a knife to another person,” continued Ibragimov. “I want this to stop. Maybe someone will hear me now and next time will go to some kind of conversation, conflict, think a hundred times whether he needs it. I have no more words. I want to thank everyone.”
