UFC Heavyweight Division No. 6 Tom Aspinall responded to fans continuing to criticize the refereeing decision in the fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, which ended in victory for the Russian fighter.
“Whoever you think is the winner of the main event, it doesn’t matter,” the Briton wrote on the social network. “A decision is a decision. Most importantly, we as fans benefited by having the honor of watching one of the most technical performances in MMA history, not to mention the sheer courage and will to win from both fighters. Whining online won’t change a thing – be glad you got to see such an epic battle, you ungrateful asses.”
Recall that the title superfight, in which Makhachev defended the UFC lightweight championship belt, and Volkanovski the title of the best fighter of the organization, regardless of the weight category, led the UFC 284 tournament in Perth and ended with the victory of the Russian by a unanimous decision with a score of 49-46 and 48- 47 twice.
