The first title fight was part of the UFC 300 anniversary tournament

Reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion Weili Zhang will make her next title defense April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas, and her opponent will be her compatriot Xiaonan Yang, ranked second in the division’s rankings.

The women’s title fight was officially announced by UFC CEO, Dana White.

In November 2022, Weili Zhang regained the UFC women’s bantamweight championship belt with a second-round rear-naked choke victory over Carla Esparza, and last August, the 34-year-old Chinese successfully defended the title with a unanimous decision win over Amanda Lemos.

Xiaonan Yang, 34, is riding a two-fight win streak, winning by majority judge’s decision over Mackenzie Dern, and knocking out former division champion Jessica Andrade in the first round.

Earlier informed sources reported that part of the anniversary event will be a welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad, however, representatives of the world’s strongest league have yet to officially announce the bout.
