The fight between Jared Cannonier and Roman Dolidze has been canceled

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Jared Cannonier has torn knee ligaments and will not make his fight against Roman Dolidze, which was scheduled for Dec. 2 in Austin, Texas.

“I’m going to have surgery on Thursday, so the fight won’t be happening in December and the UFC knows that,” the American told MMAJunkie. “Right now we’re working on my insurance paperwork and I’m going to focus on my recovery. Here’s an update with my name on it.”

According to Cannonier, he suffered the injury shortly after he was asked to replace Paulo Costa in the fight against Hamzat Chimaev.

“I got a call and was offered to take the fight with Chimaev. Before I could tell my manager to tell the UFC ‘yes,’ I got injured. I got a call on October 10 and was offered the fight before I offered it to Kamar Usman. So it could have easily been me in his shoes.”

Earlier, Roman Dolidze forfeited his fight with Derek Brunson, who was released from his contract and left the roster of the world’s strongest league.
