The favorite in the fight between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili has been named

Despite dominating victories in two title fights, reigning UFC lightweight champion Sean O’Malley will go into the defense of his belt against Merab Dvalishvili as the clear underdog.

Currently, the odds for the Georgian fighter to win are 1.488 (67.21% probability), while the American’s success is rated at 2.75 (36.36% probability).

Bookmakers released the starting odds after Sean O’Malley made the first successful defense of his title last weekend at UFC 299 in Miami, defeating Marlon Vera twice at the end of five rounds by unanimous decision with scores of 50-44 and 50-45.

Last August, O’Malley won the UFC flyweight championship belt by knocking out fellow countryman Aljamain Sterling in the second round.

Merab Dvalishvili was announced as the number one contender after picking up his tenth straight victory at UFC 298 in Anaheim last month with a unanimous decision win over Henry Cejudo. At UFC 299, the Georgian fighter officially insured O’Malley and Vera’s title fight.
