Bookmakers published the starting odds shortly after the head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White, officially announced that the American’s fight will be part of the UFC 300 anniversary tournament, which will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas.
Justin Gaethje, 35, is riding a two-fight win streak, having won by majority decision over Rafael Fiziev and knocking out Dustin Porier in a challenger’s bout. The win over “Diamond” earned “Highlight” the so-called BMF title vacated by Jorge Masvidal.
Max Holloway, 32, also won two fights in a row, defeating Arnold Allen by unanimous decision and knocking out Korean Zombie. In 2019, “Blessed” made an unsuccessful attempt to win the interim UFC lightweight championship belt, losing by unanimous decision to Dustin Puryear after five rounds.
