The favorite in the fight between Adesanya and Du Plessis has been named.

If the new UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, makes his first title defense against former division champion, Israel Adesanya, he will not be the favorite in this fight.

Currently, the odds on the Nigerian to win are 1.8 (55.56% probability), while the South African’s success is priced at 2.15 (46.51% probability).

Bookmakers released the starting odds after Du Plessis took the championship belt from Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in Toronto last weekend, defeating the American by split decision before challenging Adesanya, who agreed to the fight.

Presumably, the middleweight title fight between Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya could be part of the UFC 300 anniversary event, which takes place April 13 in Las Vegas.

Israel Adesanya hasn’t stepped into the octagon since last September, when he sensationally lost his championship belt to Sean Strickland by unanimous decision.
