Former undisputed super lightweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Scot Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs), who only holds the WBO title, has not given up on the idea of a possible fight with ex-absolute one category below Teofimo Lopez (18- 1, 13 KOs).
After Lopez nearly stumbled against Sandor Martin despite promising to eliminate him ahead of time, Taylor is confident that Teofimo doesn’t learn from his mistakes.
“He is a very good, very skilled fighter, but I am sure that on my night I will blow him to pieces,” Josh said. – Teofimo is such a clown who always looks behind his rivals. He had already made the same mistake twice, and the second time he almost paid for it with defeat. And his comments before the fight… It looks like he has a relapse of an old problem – he thinks that he is a gift from God, and then he falls to the ground with a roar.
“I was sure before that I would beat him,” Taylor continues. “Let’s not forget that he did very well against Lomachenko, but then he beat a small and injured lightweight who could have made the featherweight limit. You have to give credit when it’s deserved, but now he’s not dealing with bloated featherweights.”
Recall that the next fight Josh will hold against the Englishman Jack Catterall, whom he controversially defeated at the beginning of the outgoing year. At the same time, there is no date for revenge yet – it was expected that it would take place on February 4, but the meeting was again postponed for an indefinite period.
