World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Suleiman is going to talk with the organization’s heavyweight champion British Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) to clarify the boxer’s plans for the future.

Recall that after defeating mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte in April, Fury announced his retirement. At the same time, he did not give up his title – he probably wants to wait for the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua on August 20 to end.

“I will contact him this week to see what we can do,” Mauricio said. “Maybe he wants to visit our country, and then we can show him our hospitality and the love that Mexican fans have for him.”

“Fury made a mandatory defense,” recalls Suleiman. The champion has six months to defend his title and one year for a mandatory defense. Fury keeps saying he’s retired, but when we talked, we agreed that he would take his time and I would talk to him and his promoters in the near future, just to see if he would confirm his retirement from boxing.”
