At the end of July, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman once again unpleasantly surprised the boxing community with his incredible greed – he tried to add American YouTuber-cruiser Jake Paul (5-0, 4 KOs) to the ratings. To do this, the showman only needed to beat compatriot Hasim Rahman Jr., the son of ex-world champion Hasim Rahman.

The fight, alas, did not take place. And Rahman is to blame for this: he agreed to a cruiserweight limit (up to 90.7 kg), said that he would have time to drive off the excess in the remaining time (3 weeks) (allegedly he weighed 97.5 kg). Later it turned out that Rahman weighed much more (102.5 kg). It is clear that he could not cope with the limit (even when he was raised to 93 kg). Then for some reason he arranged a fake weigh-in and screwed up even on it (93.4 kg).

Suleiman began to explain for his attempts to include Paul in the ratings: “The whole truth is that this guy from social networks is just some kind of phenomenon. Yes, Jake Paul deserves respect. He doesn’t just walk into the ring. He approaches the fight with all responsibility, undergoes full training, trains. Despite this, he is constantly discredited. Again, this guy is a phenomenon. Let’s see what happens in the future.”

Suleiman does not rule out that sooner or later Paul will still be in the top 15 cruiserweight according to the WBC line: “This is how everything works here: there are boxers, there are weight categories, in the limits of which fights are held. And according to their results, the rating commission classifies the fighters. Everyone has their own motives and their own vision and opinion. I respect the opinions of the public, I listen to what they think about Paul’s fights.

Rahman immediately after the disruption of the event stated: “I am not to blame for anything!” Boss Showtime Sports I didn’t understand anything: Why did he sign the contract then? A little later, Rahman showed how Jake Paul runs away from him in sparring: video.
