Strickland dominated Ankalaev, claims American’s teammate

No. 10 ranked UFC middleweight Brendan Allen, who is a teammate of Sean Strickland, believes his compatriot is capable of surprising current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya with his wrestling skills, with whom the American will have to share the octagon this weekend.

“It’s one of those things that I don’t know for sure because I wasn’t there myself, but I was told that before the Alex Pereira fight, Shawn was effortlessly moving Magomed Ankalaev to the floor,” Allen said in an interview with Michael Bisping. “He did it with ease – I heard it from a reliable source.”

Adesanya had earlier suggested that Strickland would want to fight him, promising to finish the challenger with a painful or choking hold, notching the first submission victory of his career.

As a reminder, the middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland will be the main event of UFC 293, which takes place on September 9 in Sydney.
