Stipe Miocic promises not to slow down the division after beating Jon Jones

Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, who will attempt to take the title away from Jon Jones in five and a half weeks, responded to a question about whether a bout with his renowned compatriot would be the last confrontation of his career.

Although the American avoided a direct answer, he made it clear that if he wins, he will not be dragging his feet on the decision and slowing down the division.

“I’ve been thinking about it since my first fight in the UFC,” MMA Fighting quoted Miocic as saying. “Right now I’m focused on Nov. 11. That’s all I care about. After that, we’ll deal with everything. When I walk out of the octagon with the championship belt and everybody’s screaming, ‘and the new champion…’ you’ll know everything pretty quickly.”

The heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will be the main event of UFC 295, which takes place Nov. 11 in New York City, and the American’s fight will be underwritten by Russian knockout artist Sergey Pavlovich, the division’s second-ranked fighter.
