Stipe Miocic is ready to give Jon Jones a real test in the heavyweight division

Despite Jon Jones easily defeating Cyril Gagne for the vacant UFC heavyweight title, his next opponent, Stipe Miocic, believes the reigning champion has yet to be truly tested by the heavyweight division.

“The punches are much more powerful in the heavyweight division, there’s no doubt about that,” Miocic told MMAJunkie. “The big man throws big bombs, and it doesn’t matter if you’re invested or not. When there’s a lot of weight behind a punch with little gloves, anything can happen.”

Miocic also talked about what motivates him at 41 to compete at the highest level.

“There are a lot of reasons, and one of them is that I want to fight the best. I’m a competitor and I like to compete and fight – I still enjoy it. My last fight against Francis Ngannou didn’t go as well as I wanted it to, but I’m ready to rehabilitate myself and get that win. I know John will come out victorious as well. He’s one of the best fighters in history, so he’ll be ready to go.”

As a reminder, the heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will be the main event of UFC 295, which takes place on November 11 in Las Vegas.
