Sterling vows to punish Yan in March rematch

The current UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling recorded a video message to Russian fans in which he promised to punish Petr Yan in the fight for the title belt.

“Russia, I will punish your boyfriend and there is nothing you can do about it! I’ll show you who’s just chatting on March 5th! Good morning,” Sterling wrote on Instagram.

Today it became known that Yan signed a new contract with the UFC and on March 5 at tournament in Las Vegas will meet with Sterling.

Last March at UFC 259, Sterling defeated Yan via disqualification for an illegal knee to the head in the fourth round. Their rematch was scheduled to take place in October at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi, but Sterling was injured and pulled out of the fight. Corey Sandhagen came on as a substitute, and the result of the confrontation was Jan’s victory by unanimous decision.
