The current champion of the UFC bantamweight division, American Aljamain Sterling, spoke about his mood for a re-fight with Russian Peter Yan.
“Can’t wait to prove them wrong!” the athlete wrote on Instagram.
A rematch between Yan and Sterling is expected to take place in early 2022.
In their first fight, which took place in May of this year in Vegas, Yang lost to an opponent due to disqualification for an unintentional but illegal knee to the head in the fourth round.
The fighters were scheduled to fight an immediate rematch in October at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi, but the American pulled out of the scheduled bout due to a neck injury. He was replaced by Corey Sandhagen. Yang won by unanimous decision to become the Interim UFC Bantamweight Champion.
