35-year-old world champion in three categories, currently holding the WBO welterweight title (up to 66.7 kg), American Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) admits that he “stayed too long” in boxing, as he planned to hang gloves on nail two years ago.
Nothing can be done – the love of the sport was stronger than he could have imagined.
“I always said that I wanted to leave at 33. I really planned to do this and end my career at 33. But here I am already 35 years old, and I’m still in business. I just love this sport,” said Terence. “I feel like I’m still at my peak and really really want to fight Errol Spence to prove that I’m right.”
Until Crawford’s desire materializes, he will have an ordinary defense of the championship belt – this Saturday in his native Omaha, the American will box with the contender from the Russian Federation David Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs), who is preparing us for the fact that we will see the defeat of the favorite.
