No. 3 ranked UFC welterweight Shavkat Rakhmonov did not ignore Jack Della Maddalena’s challenge to him after knocking out fourth-ranked Gilbert Burns at UFC 299 in Miami.
“I respect your courage and confidence, Jack, but the same fate awaits you as my previous opponents,” the undefeated Kazakhstani fighter wrote on social media, addressing the Australian.
After knocking out Gilbert Burns in the third round, Jack Della Maddalena picked up his seventh straight win in the UFC, five of which came early.
Shavkat Rakhmonov is riding a streak of six early wins in the UFC, finishing former UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson with a rear-naked choke in the second round in his last fight.
That said, it’s possible that Maddalena will have to look for another opponent, as “Nomad” could face the division’s current champion, Britain’s Leon Edwards, in his next fight.
