UFC 262 tournament bout
On the night of Saturday to Sunday, May 16, the UFC will hold a big tournament with 17,000 fans at the Toyota Center arena in Houston (Texas, USA). Shane Burgos vs. Edson Barboza will start at 05:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
Top 10 featherweight champion Shane Burgos will take on the once strong Brazilian Edson Barboza on a PPV card.
Burgos (13-2) needs to close the loss he suffered in June 2020 with a decision from Josh Emmett. Note that before that, Burgos won six out of seven fights in the UFC.
Former lightweight contender Barboza (21-9) made his debut in the 145-pound division a year ago, losing a split decision to Dan Ige, the South American fighter’s third straight loss. In October, Barboza probably managed to save himself from being fired when he convincingly won on the cards of side referees from Makwan Amirkhani.
Prediction for the fight
Burgos is doing well with boxing and wrestling skills, punching power and stamina. Barboza, at least a few years ago, was considered an excellent BJJ black belt striker. He has great kicks and can also knock out opponents.
Barbosa, due to her “strike” and experience, can deliver a lot of trouble to Burgos. But Burgos is younger and less battered by fights, due to his physical data, he can either knock out Barbosa in the second half of the meeting, or bring things to a victory on points. But it is unlikely that the “Hurricane” will be easy in the cage.
