Shamil Gaziev will headline a UFC tournament

Dagestan-born Shamil Gaziev, who represents Bahrain in the UFC, will step into the octagon as the event’s headliner in his second fight under the organization’s banner, and he will face Surinamese knockout artist Jairzinho Rosenstrike.

The heavyweight fight will be the main event of UFC Fight Night 238, which takes place March 2 in Las Vegas. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Riyadh, however, the world’s strongest league decided to adjust its plans and move the debut in Saudi Arabia to the summer.

Undefeated 33-year-old Shamil Gaziev made a successful debut for the organization last December, finishing Martin Budaj by technical knockout in the second round at UFC 296 in Las Vegas.

Jairzinho Rosenstrike, 35, has performed extremely erratically over the past four years, suffering five losses in eight fights. “Big Boy” last stepped into the octagon last May, losing by rear-naked choke in the first round to Jailton Almeida.

Jairzinho Rosenstrike is currently ranked twelfth in the UFC heavyweight rankings, while Shamil Gaziev is not yet a top-15 fighter in the division.
