United world champion in the WBC and WBO versions in the second featherweight (up to 59 kg) American Shakur Stevenson (18-0, 9 KOs) shared his thoughts on his possible confrontation with compatriot Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KOs), who owns the WBA World title one category higher, in the lightweight category (up to 61.2 kg).
According to Stevenson, the main task for him in such a fight would be not to get under Gervonta’s patented knockout plop.
“Well, yes (the main task) is just not to be knocked out,” Shakur did not pretend, smiling. – Such a geyplan with him. My feeling is that with him you have to remember throughout the 12 rounds that he has power in both hands that cannot be ignored. Well, in general, you should stay on your feet and be someone like me. I would have made it.”
“I know how to hit and still not miss back,” Stevenson assured. — He (Davis) will not be so easy to hit me. Even so: it will be more difficult for him to hit me than it will be for me to hit him.
Recently it became known that Stevenson will make his debut defense of two titles against the Olympic champion.
