Sean Strickland issued a statement after the defeat

Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland, who lost his title against Dricus Du Plessis, believes he did enough to win and also claims he suffered a serious head kick dissection in the fourth round.

“That head kick seriously hampered my visibility but I thought I did my job,” the American wrote on social media. “Oh well nothing, moving on. Thank you to everyone who supported me.”

“I tried my best to get to Valhalla and now I need a shower,” he added.

The American also posted a video where the head of the UFC, Dana White, talks about how he believes he is the winner of this fight.

Recall that the title fight, which headed the tournament UFC 297 in Toronto, went all five rounds and ended in a split decision with the score 47-48 and 48-47 twice in favor of the South African fighter.
