The UFC’s new middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, who sensationally defeated Israel Adesanya this past weekend, has been ranked as the eighth best fighter in the organization’s top ten fighters regardless of weight class.
The Nigerian, who lost to the American by unanimous decision at UFC 293 in Sydney, lost four spots on the UFC’s P4P list, moving from fifth place to ninth.
The updated rankings were published on the organization’s official website.
Thanks to Adesanya’s fall to the bottom of the top ten, Charles Oliveira, Kamaru Usman and Sean O’Malley added one position each, moving up to fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
In addition, former UFC lightweight champion Aljamain Sterling lost his place in the top 10, dropping from tenth to thirteenth place.
In the updated middleweight rankings, Sean Strickland moved up to the champion position, while Israel Adesanya moved up to the top spot, thus displacing the division’s top four, namely Dricus Du Plessis, Robert Whittaker, Jared Cannonier and Marvin Vettori, by one spot.
