Sean Strickland Calls Abus Magomedov Candidates Fight

UFC middleweight number seven, Sean Strickland, is confident that if he wins over Abusupian Magomedov, he should be a prime candidate to fight reigning division champion Israel Adesanya.

“If the fight goes according to my scenario, I must be one hundred percent in this scenario,” the American fighter said in an interview with John Pauley. “I had a damn close decision against Jared Cannonier. He’s a tough guy and I’m convinced I beat him on points. I really believed that I should have fought Izzy, but I lost to Alex Pereira. After that I got some wins and should get my title shot – it should happen.”

The official middleweight contender fight is between Robert Whittaker and Drickus Du Plessis, which will take place on July 8 at UFC 290 in Las Vegas. According to the UFC plan, its winner must prepare for the title fight in two months and fight against the champion on September 10 at UFC 293 in Sydney.

A bout between Sean Strickland and Abusupian Magomedov will headline UFC on ESPN 48 in Las Vegas on July 1.
