UFC 276 tournament bout

The fight will take place on July 3 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the T-Mobile Arena and will be part of the main card of the UFC 276 PPV tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 05:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.

In middleweight, No. 4 ranking Sean Strickland (25-3) and eminent kickboxer Alex Pereira (5-1) will converge.

Strickland hasn’t lost in over four years, and has been in the UFC since 2014, but only recently came onto the radar of the mainstream fan. Sean has an active streak of six wins. Starting in 2021, he won against Krzysztof Jotko, Urijah Hall and in February against Jack Hermansson. Strickland did not manage to finish any of them, and with the last two he spent five rounds in a cage.

Former Glory middleweight and light heavyweight champion Pereira made his debut in the promotion in November 2021 at UFC 268 with a knockout victory over Andreas Mikhailidis. In March, the Brazilian won his second victory in the UFC, having confidently defeated his compatriot Bruno Silva after three rounds.

Prediction for the fight

In terms of pure punching technique, Pereira is head and shoulders above the opponent, but Strickland is much more experienced as an MMA fighter. Strickland has good boxing, and he can use this quality in the middle distance, since standing with Pereira with his low kicks and height advantage is a bad idea for Tarzan.

Pereira’s cardio isn’t great, and he can be a bit underwhelming under pressure. If Strickland puts pressure on him all the time, but does it intelligently and carefully, then he will have a very good chance of overall success.
