Sean O'Malley to insure Sterling-Cejudo title fight

The number one UFC bantamweight, Sean O’Malley will insure the title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo, but will only hold a weight cut if one of the fighters withdraws from the fight in more than a week.

In an interview with ESPN, O’Malley said that he was offered to officially insure the fight, including a weight cut, but he turned down the offer. According to the American, he will hold a training camp, but if the participants of the title fight come to the fight week without injuries, he will not drive weight.

“If that happens, I’ll be fit and ready,” O’Malley stated. “I am officially heading to camp and will be sparring for the next few weeks. In fact, it will be a full-fledged training camp, but without the weight race at the end. I think both of them will make weight but Aljo has a bicep injury and he has a lot to fight in this fight so I’ll be ready.”

According to available information, the bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo will take place on May 6 at UFC 288, however, the organization has not yet officially announced the fight.
