Reigning UFC flyweight champion, Sean O’Malley, questioned the mental capacity of the division’s number two, Merab Dvalishvili, who called his win over Aljamain Sterling a fluke.
“If Aljo and Sean fight ten times, Aljo will win all ten times, and it was a fluke,” Dvalishvili told MMA Fighting.
The American humorously commented on the Georgian fighter’s statement on the social network.
“The guy is a fucking genius!”, O’Malley wrote, quoting Dvalishvili.
In doing so, the UFC champion defiantly ignored a sentence from the same interview where Dvalishvili challenges him and says he is ready to step into the octagon against him this December.
Recall that last weekend at UFC 292 in Boston, Sean O’Malley finished Aljamain Sterling by technical knockout in the second round to become the new lightweight division champion, after which he announced that he was ready to come out for a title defense in December against Marlon Vera, who suffered the only defeat of his professional career three years ago.
Merab Dvalishvili earned his ninth consecutive UFC victory in March, defeating Petr Yan by unanimous decision in dominant fashion.
