Sean O’Malley refuses to travel to Chechnya

Sean O'Mally turns down trip to Chechnya

UFC bantamweight number one Sean O’Malley was supposed to accompany Kamar Usman, Henry Cejudo and Justin Gaethje on a recent trip to the Chechen Republic, but ended up canceling the trip to Russia.

“The reason why I never went to Chechnya is that I didn’t get an answer to the question – for whom is it all?” O’Malley said in the next episode of his podcast. “Then I said – to hell with it! Obviously, Henry Cejudo took the money because he never made more than a million dollars in his entire career. Probably the guy is on the verge of ruin, so he needed this trip to Russia.

At the end of last month, former UFC champions visited Chechnya, becoming guests of honor at the birthday party of Ramzan Kadyrov’s son, and also visiting the training ground of the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes, where they fired from various types of small arms.

After that, Justin Gaethje had to publicly justify himself on social networks due to organized harassment, and the US State Department made a statement about this trip, recalling that it currently does not recommend American citizens to visit Russia.
