Sean O’Malley: “I can knock out Alex Volkanovski.”

Current UFC flyweight titleholder Sean O’Malley is ready to claim the featherweight belt once the division changes champions.

“I would love to do it when Alex Volkanovski is not the featherweight champion,” said the American. “That motherf***er is the best fighter in the world right now regardless of weight.”

“I’m not saying I won’t fight him. I’m pretty sure I can knock anybody out, and I can definitely knock out Alex Volkanovski, but it’s going to be damn hard to do. Maybe in a year or two, if he’s still there, I’ll do it, but I think he’ll move up to lightweight.”

Sean O’Malley, who took the championship belt from Aljamain Sterling a month ago, is scheduled to make a title defense against Marlon Vera in December, and Aleksander Volkanovski’s next opponent could be Elijah Topuria, ranked fifth in the UFC’s featherweight division.
