Reigning UFC flyweight champion, Sean O’Malley, humorously responded to the division’s number four, Corey Sandhagen, who attributed his popularity to his facial tattoos and dyed hair.
“Famous guys have leverage,” Sandhagen said on another edition of The MMA Hour program. “I’d like to have that leverage, too. I think maybe I should start hanging out with rappers and maybe make myself less like the normally dude I am now. Maybe in 2024, I’ll rebrand myself. I’ll get as far as facial tattoos, dye my hair, and start hanging out with rappers. That’s the nature of sports.”
It didn’t take long for the champ to respond.
“A tattoo on the face could help. You could also knockout Aljo and beat Petr – also quite workable options,” O’Malley wrote on social media.
Like O’Malley, Sandhagen once faced Aljamain Sterling and Peter Yan, losing to the former by rear-naked choke in the second minute of the fight and to the latter by unanimous decision over five rounds.
Sean O’Malley is currently preparing for his title defense against Marlon Vera at UFC 299 in Miami, while Corey Sandhagen doesn’t have a fight scheduled yet.
