Sean O’Malley has moved up in the UFC’s top fighter rankings

Reigning UFC flyweight champion Sean O’Malley, who successfully defended his title against Marlon Vera last weekend at UFC 299 in Miami, has improved his position in the organization’s official rankings, moving up to number six on the list of top UFC fighters regardless of weight class.

In doing so, the American surpassed two fighters, Charles Oliveira and Alexander Volkanovski, who, while not the current champion, were ahead of him in the UFC’s P4P rankings.

The top five fighters remained unchanged, with Russian Islam Makhachev still at the top of the list, holding the UFC lightweight title.

Another significant change was the move of Australian Jack Della Maddalena up six spots in the organization’s welterweight division rankings, where he rounded out the top five after an early win over Gilbert Burns.

Thanks to the Brazilian’s loss, Colby Covington, who hadn’t won in over two years, moved up one spot to fourth on the organization’s top welterweight rankings.

A new member of the top-15 welterweight division is UFC debutant Michael Page, who moved up one spot from the thirteenth spot to replace Kevin Holland, who he defeated.

The updated rankings were published on the organization’s official website.
