Sean O’Malley congratulated Henry Cejudo on his dismissal from the UFC

Reigning UFC flyweight champion Sean O’Malley addressed the division’s number three contender, Henry Cejudo, jokingly congratulating “Triple Crown Champion” on the end of his professional career.

“Talked to the guys and decided to remove Henry Cejudo from the roster,” O’Malley wrote on social media, posting a joint photo with his teammates and UFC president, Dana White. “Great run, champ. Enjoy your retirement. Let me know if you want to learn wrestling defense.”

“Wow, I need to apologize to Henry – he’s actually a lot more popular than I thought,” the UFC champ added after releasing the results of a poll on who should be his next opponent.

Leading the submitted poll is the division’s number six Marlon Vera, while the former UFC double champion is ranked last, fourth in the poll, passing Merab Dvalishvili and Aljamain Sterling.

“Looking forward to be able to beat Cheeto again,” O’Malley wrote.

Sean O’Malley took the UFC title from Aljamain Sterling two weeks ago, finishing the champion by technical knockout in the second round, and his desire to fight Marlon “Cheeto” Vera stems from the fact that three years ago the Ecuadorian inflicted on him the only defeat of his career, which the American does not recognize because he considers it accidental.

Henry Cejudo resumed his career in May of this year after a three-year hiatus, making an unsuccessful attempt to take the championship belt from Sterling, to whom he lost by split decision at the end of five rounds.
