Sandhagen called candidate fight with Nurmagomedov

UFC bantamweight number four, Corey Sandhagen, is confident that his fight with Umar Nurmagomedov will determine the number one contender in this weight class.

“Yes, that’s what they told me,” the American said in the next edition of the MMA Hour program. “And it gives me confidence that they wanted to organize Cejudo vs. Vera. This fight didn’t feel like a Candidates fight because I just beat Chito by a big margin. If they wanted a Henry-Chito fight, that’s almost a guarantee that Umar and I are fighting for the number one contender title.”

“By the way, this is another reason why I took the fight with Umar. He would have beaten me in the Candidates race anyway, otherwise I can be the guy who stops him.”

Recall that the fight between Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov will be the main event of the UFC on ESPN 50 tournament, which will be held on August 5 in Nashville.
